Automobiles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

An important political figure stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
